Every parent celebrates the milestones their children reach from infancy on. It’s a time to celebrate those first words, those first steps, and the ability to perform simple tasks that will evolve in complexity over time. It is reason for concern when your son or daughter is not meeting developmental goals within a certain time frame. For example, your child may not begin talking when others do or your child may be difficult to understand. Your child may not make the transition from crawling to walking like you would expect. Your child may be diagnosed with a disability that involves many developmental gaps. The AZEIP Program in Arizona can provide your child with the tools needed to be successful through early intervention.
You’ve heard the expression, “Strike while the iron is hot.” The same holds true for young children. The earlier your little one has extra assistance from educated therapists, the sooner your child can make strides toward reaching developmental triumphs in areas that are lagging. Your Arizona early intervention team will begin with a thorough evaluation that will determine what services are the best fit for your child. This process will include observations of your child, interviews with you to learn about your impressions of your child, and reports provided by your child’s pediatrician. Once the assessment is completed, your child may begin speech services or physical therapy. Occupational therapy, ABA therapy to teach positive behaviors, and feeding therapy are also available. Services will be provided in your home at a time that is convenient for you for the recommended amount of time, such as three sessions for thirty minutes a week.
