If you have a brilliant idea for a new soda, juice, or other type of beverage, the next step is to get it onto the shelves and in front of customers. To do that, you’ll need to get the right packaging.
Designing a beverage carton is a bit more complicated than any other food container because it needs to structurally hold the liquids, so it’s important to know what qualities you should have. Here are a few things to look for when picking out your cartons.
Liquid Fill Material
Beverage cartons need to be made out of specific material which can hold up to contact with liquid. Most regular cardboard or paper packaging gets soggy if it’s exposed to liquid for too long—not a great combination if you’re looking for packaging for a beverage.
Drink cartons are made out of special material that is designed specifically for liquid fill. They usually have extra layers or special coatings that make them hold up to liquid. A good food packaging manufacturer will know which materials to use.
Gable Top
There’s a reason most drink cartons have gable tops. These tops make it easier to access the liquid inside, either through a straw hole, cap, or by opening the top. The rest of the carton is regularly shaped for easy storage.
Custom Design
Finally, your beverage carton should have a custom design and branding. You want your product to stand out, after all, so packaging should be both functional and beautiful.
